20 acres of land has been set aside for the new Fourm next to supervalu which will have 800 to 1000 seats, walking track inside, nhl size ice rink etc. and will include a walking track outside..... there is still another 30 acres and they are in negotiations with Wal-Mart the next few days over that peice of land. It'll be interesting to see what happens because walmarts been interested in building there for awhile. There will be a public meeting on the design and that of the fourm this wednesday Nov 9th at the Exhibition on Regent St.

A Wal-Mart in North Sydney? Wow, I would love to see that but I wonder if Wal-Mart knows how much of an impact that will have on their Sydney River store. A lot of the business, roughly 25% comes from the Northside area. I also wonder if Zeller's is prepared for a Wal-Mart. The Zellers in Sydney is doing well but I'm not sure if the Zellers in North Sydney could survive the competition with Wal-Mart. It would be great for the Northside though.
Chiz, keep us posted on this since you have some good info there.
Thanks

Over the past half a year or more i've been really impressed on how busy zellers in north syd is, everytime i go in there its always packed. If walmart does build here i hope zellers still gets alot of buisness and will see me more then walmart will because i'd rather support the canadian companys as much as i can. In the paper today it had an article about walmart being interested in building in north sydney for awhile, and a representative from walmart said if they do, they will be closing the sydney river walmart, but as for now its buisness as usual in sydney river.
