Major League Baseball recently suspended Rey Sanchez of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays 10 games for the illegal use of steroids. Here is an outline of MLB's suspension policy for players who test positive for steroids.
1st time offense - 10 day suspension
2nd time offense - 30 day suspension
3rd time offense - 60 day suspension
4th time offense - 1 year suspension
5th time offense - MLB Commissioner makes decision
So here's the question, is MLB's suspension policy too soft? Is it just right? Or is it too hard on the players? Also, what message does this policy send to players in the minor league system. Keep in mind, 38 minor league players were dealt suspensions this week for steroid abuse.

If they're serious about a crackdown I think the fines are too weak. To give a guy 5 chances and then let the commish decide is too light. These penalties don't really act as a deterrent if you ask me. If I thought I could get myself a record I would take steroids with the thought of, oh well, if they catch me I'll only be fined for 10 games and then I'll be back again.
These guys make way too much money for a 10 game suspension to hurt them.
