Now that it appears, again, the season has been cancelled, here are my thoughts on bringing back the fans after taking a huge hit this season.
1 - fire Bob Goodenow and replace him with somebody who cares about players in the game, all players, and not just the top 10 percent of the players who stand to gain from this rediculous mess
2 - fire Gary Bettman and replace him with somebody who can make some good business decisions for the league as well as listening to the fans who ultimately are the ones paying all salaries!
3 - Include a 3rd representative who will have a 3rd say in CBA talks, if at all possible. This person can be voted in by the fans and/or the press. This person would have an equal say in negotiations and be a final vote on talks.
4 - open up the game. It's obvious that changes have to be made to make the game more attractive and entertaining, so open it up with some new rule changes.

I like these suggestions. I think maybe Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux would be excellent candidates for either position. These are two guys who care about the game and will put its best interests first.
I like the rule changes idea. I think removing the centre line would make the game wide open.

Exactly! Removing the center line would go a long way in helping to open up the game.
