If the NHL and NHLPA are looking for a way to survive south of the border, now is the perfect time to put aside their differences and get a deal done!
Why? Well, with the NBA's CBA expiring this June and no sign of a deal getting done the NHL has an opportunity to give the US it's only major sport through the winter of 2005/2006. Yes, they still have the NFL to compete with in the fall but the NHL isn't really in need of competing there because they only play a small portion of the season during the NFL season.
This is an ideal time to blitz the american sportsfan and networks with advertising because the fans will want something to watch and the networks will need something to fill the potential gap left by the NBA

Couldn't agree more. Football games are only played on Sunday's and one game is played on Monday's. I think the NHL would make an easy recovery if an agreement is made.
