The Battle of the Hockey Enforcers has been dealt another blow.
City councillors in Prince George, British Columbia voted 5-3 in a special meeting in favour of cancelling the event.
''We confuse young people about what's right and wrong about violence'' Prince George councillor Murry Krause told the Prince George Citizen.
Krause was not alone with his concerns for the event.
''I'm concerned about the fact that it is promoting violence and it is putting into place a celebration of one of the worst parts of the wonderful game of hockey which is the fighting portion of it,'' councillor Sherry Sethen said to the Citizen.
Not every councillor, however, was concerned with the effect the event would have on the city.
Coun. Don Zurowski, however, said he was uncomfortable with regulating the types of events that come to the city and dismissed concerns about the extent of damage Battle of the Hockey Enforcers would have on the city's reputation.
''I frankly don't think that we're that fragile,'' Don Zurowski told the paper.
The city could face legal action from promoter Daryl Wolski.
