This is not a question of who you will vote for, but who do you think will win the Federal Election?

Do I have to register to vote?

I honestly think the liberals will once again come out with a minority government. Although I won't be voting Liberal, I still think they will win. Personally, I think this election is a complete waste of taxpayers money.

I have to admit, I agree with you cbisle. If that does happen, it'll be hard for the opposition parties to call another election after having failed to unseat the Liberals this time. If the Conservatives do win, it will likely be another minority government which could easily fall as the Liberals have.
It's a very frustrating political environment.

I'm not saying I will vote for them but I feel the Liberal's will once again win with a minority government. While the Convservatives will no be able to consciously bring down a second minority government without suffering a tremendous backlash from Canadians, I hope the Liberals will learn that they are not "entitled" to power over this country and it's people. They need to realize that they were voted in but by a narrow margin.
Personally, I believe we need a Leader with a totally different make-up from what we've had in the past. We need a government where all parties work for the benefit of all Canadians, rather than bickering amongst themselves, telling us what we want and what we need. Only we, the people, know what we want and need and do not need to be told.

I agree Newshound. I think it would be ideal if we could take parts of each party and mold them together to make one party that is for the people. Or all parties could just work together and make sacrifices. Personally I think the first option is more realistic.

Perhaps, Newshound, you should start your own political party and run for office.

Interesting how things have changed since we first posted this poll. It appears, at least in the opinion polls, that the Conservatives have a solid lead on the Liberals and could make a run at a majority government.
What I was surprised to find out yesterday was that even though Conservatives are promising to lower the GST, they also plan to raise income taxes by 1 percent. It would be interesting to see how the numbers will compare.
The Liberals have fallen to desperation tactics and have been really disappointing in this election. The track record is both good and bad. The surpluses are great but the scandals have really taken their toll.
The NDP were my choice in this election until Mr. Layton started to play the playground games that the Liberals and Conservatives were playing all along.
Not much to convince you to vote "for" a party but there seems to be a few reasons to vote "against" each one.

Its scary to think harper is probly gonna win this election. I came into this election open minded and willing to vote for any party depending on they're future plans if elected.
Right now it is basically down to the Liberals and the Conservatives. When i put these two together, the liberals are the clear choice in my eyes, exspecially for atlantic canada. We have so many low paying jobs and strugle to make ends meet... alot of federal tax gets takin off my cheques, liberals plan in decrease the amount takin off for ppl with lower income jobs. I think that is a great stragety because it helps alot of students in school and working at for example sobeys trying to pay they're high university tutition. He also plans on putting 2 billion into post secondary schooling, which isnt enough but will help greatly. It will pay for half the first years tutition and half the last years.
Now the conservatives want to lower the gst.. this will benifit everyone in the country but will benifit the rich the most as they are the biggest spenders. What i would like to see in a goverment is one that will work to help the poorer ppl of our region instead of making the rich get richer and poor get poorer.
Something else that has turned me against the conseravatives is their day care plan which i think will not work as they plan. they plan on sending 1200 cheques to each mother, and i believe they wont be used for what they are intended for. I would rather see the money go straight to the daycares to lower wages, which is what the liberals intend on doing.
Another issue is with global warming which i think is an important issue due to the increase in crazy weather we are having in the past year. Harper plans on pulling out of the keyoto plan and putting that money into our transit system.
From watching each partys speeches and just from what i see on tv this is the information i got out of it. If you have any other information to add or comments on what i have posted feel free too.

As pessimistic as it is I do agree with what you say regarding the funds the Conservatives will provide to parents. I see it so often locally that kids are going around not dressed properly for the weather while the parents are wearing Tommy Hilfiger and stuff like that. I think the funds should go to creating more day care spots since there is a severe shortage, at least locally.
Another thing that you don't hear too often is that the Conservatives, although dropping the GST by 2% over the next 2 years, will be increasing personal income taxes by 1%. This figure will far outweigh the figure of savings from the drop in GST.
The Liberals shot themselves in the foot with all the scandals and Paul Martin's poor leadership.
My personal opinion is that there really isn't a solid leader among all the major parties. It would have been nice to see more of the other minor parties, such as the Green Party.
