JACKSONVILLE, FL -- When you hear what happened, it's hard to believe Wendell Coleman is still alive. But police say he didn't just survive a shooting - he didn't even realize he'd been shot.
Police say Coleman got into an argument early Monday morning in a parking lot at the corner of Union and Broad Streets.
Apparently, he had been talking to a jealous guy's girlfriend.
Police say that jealous man pulled out a gun, and put it right in Coleman's face.
Coleman says he heard the gun go off - but he didn't feel anything.
He went on home and fell asleep.
But when he woke up the next morning, his mouth was terribly sore and he was having trouble talking. So he walked to Shands Hospital and mumbled to doctors that his mouth hurt.
The examined him, and discovered the cause - a bullet lodged in his tongue.
As of Tuesday night, Coleman was recovering at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. He was awake and even talking to visitors.
The search for suspects may be tough. According to police, it was dark, and Coleman did not know the people in the parking lot. So right now, officers don't have much of a description to go on.
