Rules and Regulations for the Canada Post "Holiday 2005" Contest
Starting on November 1, 2005 and up to 11:59 p.m. EST December 31, 2005 (the Contest Closing Date), you can participate in the Canada Post "Holiday 2005" Contest simply by filling out an entry ballot and submitting it.
There are two ways to participate:
Canada Post customers who purchase an Xpresspost™ service during the contest will receive a ballot to enter. Entry forms and ballots are available during normal business hours in participating post offices across Canada. You will be able to enter by filling out the entry form and mailing it to the address below or going to the website. If you purchased the Xpresspost service online at www.canadapost.ca/shipinaclick, you will receive an email confirmation and be directed to the contest website.
Mail Entry: You will be able to participate by filling out the entry ballot and mailing it to the following address: Canada Post "Holiday 2005" Contest, PO Box 4013, Paris, ON N3L 3W9. No purchase necessary. You may request a ballot at participating post offices (Limit of one (1) entry per household, per address, per day).
Internet: When visiting the Canada Post website - www.canadapost.ca/holiday - you will be able to enter by filling out an online entry form. For no purchase entry, follow the instructions online (Limit of one (1) entry per household, per address, per day. A day begins at midnight EDT and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT.). In the event it is discovered that you attempted to enter online more than one time per day all your entries will be void. To be eligible, entries must be received on or before 11:59:59 p.m. EST December 31, 2005 (the contest closing date). No photocopy or facsimile will be accepted.
Grand Prizes:
There are Three (3) Grand Prizes available to be won, each consisting of an Air Canada Gift Voucher with a value of $10,000.00 CDN. Voucher to be redeemed by December 31, 2007, some restrictions may apply. Prizes will be delivered to the confirmed winners by Canada Post.
Secondary Prizes:
There are 25 Secondary prizes available to be won - Secondary prizes consist of a HP Photosmart Digital Camera Model #R817. Approximate retail value of each Secondary prize is $450.00. No cash alternative is available for prizes.
Third Prizes:
There are 50 Third prizes available to be won - Third prizes consist of a Roots 3-piece luggage set. Approximate retail value of each Third prize is $200.00. No cash alternative is available for prizes.
Fourth Prizes:
There will be 100 Fourth prizes available to be won, each consisting of a CPC "Stay in Touch" Gift Package containing 1 stamp pack of 10 (Queen Elizabeth), 1 Tickelope, 1 Pretty Little Letter Writing Kit, 1 Decorative Bubble envelope, and 1 Xpresspost prepaid envelope. Approximate retail value of each Third prize is $27.00. No cash alternative is available for prizes.
Draw
On or about 2:00 p.m. EST on Monday January 16, 2006 an independent judging organization will randomly draw Three (3) entries to be eligible to win the Grand Prizes, and Fifty (50) entries eligible to win a Secondary Prize, Twenty-five (25) entries eligible to win a Third Prize and 100 entries eligible to win a Fourth Prize. To win, selected entrants must first correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question. All selected entrants will be notified by phone and/or mail. If a prize notification letter is returned to Canada Post or its designated agent as undeliverable, the prize will be awarded to an alternate winner. It is the sole responsibility of participants to notify the judges in writing if the participant changes his or her mailing address or telephone number. If any of the selected entrants cannot be reached within two weeks of the first attempt of notification, their opportunity to win a prize will be forfeited and another participant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries received.
General Rules
This contest is open to all Canadian residents of the age of majority in their province (or Territory) of residence, excluding employees, agents and representatives of Canada Post, their advertising and promotional agencies, the independent judging organization, their affiliated companies (which, individually and collectively are hereinafter referred to as the "Contest Sponsor") and members of the respective immediate families of employees of Contest Sponsor and anyone with whom such employees are domiciled.
Chances of winning are proportional to the number of eligible entries received.
Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws and regulations. All decisions of the independent contest judging organization are final and the Contest Sponsor shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the contest.
No communication will be entered into except with selected entrants. By entering this contest, the selected entrants consent to the use of their name, city of residence, audio/video image, statements, and/or photograph in any related publicity without compensation.
Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. No substitutions will be made for the prizes except at the discretion of Canada Post who may substitute prizes of greater or comparable value. Prizes are expected to be delivered to the winners by mail about 6 weeks after confirmation. Only one prize per family, per household, or per address will be awarded. In the event of a dispute regarding submission of an online entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the holder of the e-mail account.
By accepting the prize, all prize winners agree to sign a form of declaration confirming compliance with the contest rules and regulations and releasing the Contest Sponsor of all liability that could result from the awarding or use of the prize.
For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, 1 Notre-Dame Street East, 9th Floor, Montreal, Quebec H2Y 1B6, for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
All Entries become the property of Canada Post upon receipt and will not be returned. Canada Post will use the contact information provided in contest entries for administration of this contest only.
Canada Post reserves the right to withdraw, terminate or modify all or part of this contest by publishing a notice on the Canada Post website if for any reasons the contest is not capable of running as planned, including technical failure or corruption, computer virus, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the control of Canada Post, which in the opinion of Canada Post affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest.
Contest Sponsor is not responsible for any lost, late, damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries or for any faulty electronic data transmission, equipment failure or other communication problems occurring in connection with participation with this contest.
