Here we go again! Mr. Harper is looking to win an election at the expense of a region in which he receives little support. In this case he's looking to eliminate the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA). pei.cbc.ca/regional/servlet/View?filename=pe_harper20040528If successful, Harper will have done exactly what John Hamm did to win his election. As you'll recall, Hamm told mainland Nova Scotia that, if elected, he would eliminate the funds going to Cape Breton to sustain what was left of Sydney Steel calling it a money pit. While I feel that we must first learn to help ourselves, I also detest these politicians pitting one region against another in order to gain votes. ACOA provides more than loans to individuals, it provides research and information which is crucial to individuals who are looking to make a new start or to improve their standard of living. I think Mr. Harper needs to learn that he will representing the well-beign of all of Canada, not just the Western provinces. News Hound
