Fetus discovered near trail WebPosted Feb 9 2005 02:25 PM AST CBC News
HALIFAX — Halifax RCMP are investigating after a couple made a gruesome discovery Wednesday morning in the Herring Cove area.
They discovered a fetus as they were walking along the Herring Cove look off.
The area is about one kilometre past the York Redoubt Park.
"They noticed a makeshift grave made out of rocks on the rock part of the walkway, and they uncovered the rocks because it kinda looked peculiar to them, and then they discovered the fetus underneath the rocks," said RCMP Const. Joe Taplin.
Police are waiting for a medical examiner to arrive.

Yeah, it's a pretty gruesome story. I wasn't even sure whether or not I should have posted it. It's pretty scary though to think there are some people out there who are actually capable of this.

Autopsy reveals fetus was stillborn WebPosted Feb 10 2005 02:56 PM AST CBC News
HALIFAX — RCMP are hoping the person who buried a fetus on a rocky look-off near Halifax comes forward.
An autopsy conducted Thursday found that the fetus was stillborn, less than 20 weeks old, and male.
It was discovered under a pile of rocks by two hikers walking along the Herring Cove look-off Wednesday morning.
"It's obvious the fetus was laid to rest and some form of vigil took place," said RCMP Const. Joe Taplin.
Investigators want to talk to the relatives involved to close the case, he said, and understand it's "probably a very traumatic experience."
