Anybody interested in doing a calendar of events for CB? We have a calendar on the board so we might as well use it.

:'(i do not see any news on the Johnny Miles Festival in Sydney Mines or even what happened to the previous Coordinator. He seemed to have dissappeared from working with the festival. I heard that the councilor C.Prince did not help to find funding to keep the coordinator working. WOW that festival was gettin big. i herd that the Festival was going to be taken down to the road race again , That is a shame . or should we say shame on Clarence Prince and the recreation DEPT.

Hello Concerned,
First off, let me welcome you to the Caper Corner Message Board. I hope you will become a registered member.
As for your post the calendar has sort of fallen by the wayside the last few months but it is open to entries by registered members so if anybody has a calendar event to post they are welcome to do so and I invite all members to please take part.
As for the second part of your message regarding the apparent political squabbles of the Johnny Miles Festival, we have no affiliation with either the Festival, the CBRM Recreation Department, or Clarence Prince so we have no knowledge of the inner workings.
I do appreciate your concerns over the Johnny Miles Festival and I hope that the Festival will live on and continue to grow. I also acknowledge your privilege to express your opinions in regards to the happenings but maybe we could try to ask our members and guests to provide some insight as to what actually happened and what can be done to help the Festival.
I would also like to add that should any and all members/guests wish to continue discussing this issue, please do so in our "Headlines" or "Bar Talk" categories.
Thank-you,
Caper Corner Admin

sorry about getting so political but myself and a few concerned freinds were just wondering why the festival would let such a great coordinator go, when the festival was getting so popular. i am just rambling sorry. but if some one was to call Mr. Prince and ask he should certainly know he does belong to the festival committee. we think he is listed in the book under Clarence Prince.

I'm not overly concerned about political discussions, we invite them here. I would like to hear from other members who may have some insight into this discussion. Personally, I feel that the Johnny Miles Festival has yet to live up to it's predeceasor, the Colliery Days. Times are different now and there are few funds around to help out these smaller festivals. I do hope the Johnny Miles Festival survives and thrives but how that will happen is anybody's guess.

Speaking as a past Johnny Miles Festival Co-ordinator...I think it is a great organization. I have worked with Clarance Prince who has been extremely helpful to the organization and is very supportive. Emily Grey...Recreation Dept...I cannot think of enough good things to say about her..she has been extremely supportive in so many ways to both me and my fellow festival coordinator the summer we worked there. The whole organization are so totally dedicated....with the many very hard working, loyal volunteers...I truly enjoyed my summer working with them and have seen the happy faces of Sydney Mines and surrounding areas residents faces and think it would be a mortal shame to stop any part of the festival..if anything should be expanded each year. Johnny Miles Festival should live on.....
